IN BITTERROOT VALLEY, MONTANA
The Bitterroot Valley in the southwest corner of the State of Montana is credited with bordering the Largest
Wilderness area in the lower 48 states. It is also located in the "Banana Belt" of Montana,
known for having more moderate temperatures than other parts of the state.
Wildlife is abundant here; pine forests and meadows flourish. Numerous Mountain Streams flow from the high peaks, creating lush irrigated fields and pastures. The remaining water feeds into The Bitterroot River which flows through the center of the valley. This is country for those who love the outdoors. Enjoy hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling or just sitting on the porch taking in the views!
There are 3 ski areas from one end of the valley to the other, so no matter where you live, one is close by. Missoula is the big city in the area, located at the north end of the valley, for those needing a cup of Starbucks Coffee, a shopping spree at the mall or a stroll through a college campus (University of Montana). Missoula also offers an International Airport and is about a 35 minute drive from the center of the valley.
There are 9 cities in The Bitterroot Valley. Starting from Missoula headed south is Lolo (9 miles), Florence (18 miles), Stevensville (26 miles), Victor (32 miles), Corvallis (41 miles), Hamilton (46 miles), Darby (63 miles), Connor (69 miles) and Sula (79 miles).
